The paid TV business is a competitive business that has no space for amateur. In fact, it is more like a war between these paid TV service providers — namely the cable TV and satellite TV companies.

If you are not too old to remember, you should recall that when the satellite TV providers first came out, the cable TV companies did not give their new opponent much thought. The satellite system was expensive, bulky, messy to be installed, and the program offerings were not attractive at all. Cable service providers were sitting comfortably on their monopoly position.

However things changed, fast.

The satellite TV industry was revolving faster than the cables can imagine. 18″ small satellite dish were introduced, cost of satellite equipments dropped sharply, and the installation process turned much easier than before. Then come DirecTV and Dish Network. These two satellite TV providers utilized the small satellite dish system well and the success of satellite TV in late 90s was a big bang on cable’s monopoly.

Nowadays, DirecTV and Dish Network grew up to be two major players that cannot be ignored. Both companies enjoy a steady growth in subscribers and gradually winning the paid TV market share. Where the cable TV industry has reported an annual growth between 10 to 15 percent, top satellite companies, such as Direct TV, boast a market share increase of just fewer than 30% according to a study from The Media Audit.

So the key question to consumers: Is satellite TV offering a better deal than the cables? How does satellite TV matches up to cables: Is satellite TV service better, or the cable TV is still the best?

A quick check on the program offerings, you will noticed that cable TV programs normal come in analog or partly, digital signals, Cable TV’s picture quality are generally good, but not as good as satellite TV that offers 100% digital picture in their broadcast. As for the programming varieties, cable TV offers about 150 channels in general; on the other hand, both Dish Network and DirecTV offer up to 250 programming channels. More over, Dish Network HD program offerings are amazing where they are offering more than 30 HD channels at the time of writing.

How about the pricing? From what we are seeing, satellite TV are giving a much better bargains in initial and monthly cost. In general, cable TV charge you about $ 40 a month for 64 channels, plus roughly $ 12 per for digital channels. Installation in one room is $ 39.95, plus $ 9.95 for each additional room. While Dish Network basic package starts at $ 19.99 and DirecTV package starts at $ 29.99, with no initial charges at all, it is without doubt that satellite TV are much cheaper than the cables. What make cable TV deals attractive are their bundle services.

Cable TV services normally come along with cable phone and cable broadband services — which is good for most new home buyers. With cable TV bundle package (Comcast for example), you’ll get entertainment, communication, and even high speed Internet services. The service provide much convenience to the users (imagine settling all your home bills with just one company) and also, they (the cable TV) are able to pull down the selling price (due to bulk selling), which in turns create a better value for cable user’s services.

Satellite TV on the other hand has less to offer. Satellite Internet was once offered along side with satellite TV deals. However there are too much of pullbacks in satellite Internet services, namely the latency error and constant disconnection during storms, the offer was not a successful one.

Conclusion: Cable TV or satellite TV? Both satellite and cable services have their advantages — cable TV bundle services offer you great savings in overall home expenses; satellite TV offer better programming quality in a much cheaper price. Cable TV vs satellite TV, who has the best? I guess this is not an one-answer-fits-all question. The best advice is to suggest you to review and select the paid TV service that suits your needs the best.

(PRWEB UK) 8 May 2012

Telematics or black box car insurance uses satellite technology to collect data on the actual driving performance of motorists, looking at areas such as acceleration, braking and the time periods when a vehicle is driven. This data is then utilised to calculate car insurance premiums.

Analysis carried out by Co-operative Insurance that looked at 10,000 telematics insurance customers aged between 17 and 25 revealed that this group were 20% less likely to be involved in a crash than those with a standard policy. It also seems that drivers who opt to take out a telematics based car insurance policy have less serious accidents, as insurance claims from customers with a box fitted are typically 30% less than those without.

Telematics based car insurance was first introduced in 2006 by Aviva. At that time the technology was still relatively new and as such quite costly to install. Since then many more insurers have started to introduce these products and car insurance comparison site Tiger.co.uk has been quick to ensure it can offer a range of these products to its shoppers.

Andrew Goulborn, Commercial Director for the site, commented: It is great to hear that telematics based insurance appears to be encouraging better driving habits among younger drivers. As evidenced by some analysis we carried out in April this year, this type of product appears to be growing in popularity not only among younger drivers, but across the driving population as a whole. Almost 15% of policy sales through our site are now accounted for by telematics products. The industry is predicting that the growth of these products will continue and as a comparison site we aim to keep on top of developments in this area and continue to offer shoppers a wide range of products. We are proud to say that we currently provide car insurance quotes from four telematics insurance providers on Tiger.co.uk and are in discussion with a further six providers about introducing their brands over the coming year.

About Tiger.co.uk:

Taking an in-depth look at a law firms marketing goals and budget is the key to generating a creative and successful online strategy, Consultwebs.com, Inc., law firm Web marketing consultant John Damron told LXBN TV in an interview at Avvos recent 2012 Avvocating Conference in Seattle.

We can fix a proposal, or a proposed strategy, thats based on those goals and that budget. No firm is too small or too large for us, Damron told LXBN TVs Colin OKeefe in the online interview for the legal content site. We try to find out as much information as we can, and we craft a strategy around that.

Consultwebs.com specializes in law firm website design and online marketing campaigns for lawyers, including search engine optimization (SEO), pay per click, mobile website design and optimization, social media and content development.

Consultwebs.com was one of 10 legal marketing companies that Avvo invited to attend, exhibit and provide a presentation of their services at the two-day Avvocating Conference earlier this month at the Bell Harbor Conference Center in Seattle. Avvo is one of the countrys leading online ratings forums for attorneys and legal professionals.

During one of the conferences key presentations, Avvo CEO Mark Britton stressed three elements that he believes will play a major role in the future of Web marketing for lawyers: Social media, mobile optimization and video.

Those topics came up as well in Damrons interview with LXBN TV.

We have a dedicated social media team as part of our company, and they are pro-actively looking for new and aggressive ways to market via Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Hubpages and all of those other social networks that, traditionally, lawyers have been slow to join but have been coming around to lately, Damron said.

Damron also stressed the importance of quality content for law firm websites, which has taken on greater significance in recent weeks in light of the Penguin update to Googles search algorithm.

I think one thing that really makes us more unique than a lot of the other legal marketing firms is that we just added our third full-time licensed attorney to our staff. Those guys head up our content department. Theyre doing all of our practice area pages and other pages on the site as well as our blogging, social media and press releases, Damron said.

I think thats very unique as opposed to hiring journalists or maybe outsourcing to other countries or to less-qualified content writers.

The Avvocating Conference is one of several legal marketing conferences and professional seminars that Consultwebs.com attends throughout the year.

Damron and other online legal marketing strategists from Consultwebs.com will next be attending the M&L Legal Marketing & Management Seminar, June 21-23, at The Fairmont Hotel in Vancouver, British Columbia.
