dish satellite tv program guide

Question of Evanjohn : How is the reception satellite TV when it rains or snows
I am thinking about switching from cable Cox proportional to DISH Network. I will not switch if the reception is terrible because I never had before a crash. I basically change the program guide and pay-per-view. Also, think DirecTV is better in terms of holidays and / or planning? I also can not live without local channels, if that makes a difference. I live in Rhode Island. Just thought I would give you the piece of information if it affects your answer. Best answer:

Well I think when it rains really hard the signal gets bad, and if the snow piles on the same plate will cause a complete blackout until someone gets out side to clean it.

I have DirecTV and when it rains or snows hard too, lose reception. I’m in New York (north) and cannot get local channels. I do not know about Dish Network, except that it may be cheaper, but I think that programming is about the same.
